Debido a los efectos del huracán Milton, las escuelas del condado de Okeechobee no estarán en sesión el viernes 11 de octubre. Due to the likely impacts of Tropical Storm Milton, which is predicted to become a major hurricane prior to landfall, Okeechobee County Schools will be closed Tuesday, October 8th through Thursday, October 10th. Following consultations with the Okeechobee County Emergency Operations Center and utilizing information from the Florida Department of Emergency Management and the National Hurricane Center, it is possible that school sites may be required to serve as shelter locations on Tuesday and Wednesday, and sites will need to be restored to pre-storm conditions on Thursday.
On Monday, October 7th, all middle and high school campus activities will end at 5:00 PM and all elementary schools will operate as usual until 6:00 PM when Aftercare services end. All athletic and extracurricular activities scheduled to take place tomorrow evening have been canceled. Communications regarding Homecoming Week events will be shared by Okeechobee High School later today.
Please continue to monitor the OCSB app for the latest information. We will release additional information, including details related to schools reopening after the storm, as soon as it is available. In the meantime, please stay safe during the storm.
